Drambuie

Drambuie was created as the elixir of Bonnie Prince Charlie - a Jacobite son of the former heir to the throne of Scotland. When he fled Scotland, legend has it that he used knowledge of this elixir to trade passage from Scotland to France. This elixir was a tincture of essential oils, designed to be mixed with brandy. Of course, with it's Scottish heritage, it has instead been mixed with whisky - to form the sweet and spiced drink that is now legendary, as Drambuie.
